Comet
03:34
|
|||
You’re here for a second and then you’re gone
Get my hopes up then you’re moving on
I can see you shining ‘til the break of dawn
If you could only see what you’re doing to me
When you play me like a pawn
You’re a comet
Streaking across the sky
Leaving dust in your wake
Making every heart shake
They all love to see you fly
I can see you coming from a mile away
I know even sooner that you ain’t gonna stay
Like every time before you’re gonna lead me astray
Even though I know how soon you’re gonna go,
I’m the one you’re gonna betray
You’re a comet
Streaking across the sky
With your face all aglow
You let everybody know that it’s you
Who’s up so high
You’ll always have your 15 minutes in the sun
Stay around ‘til your victory lap is done
You might even hint that I’ll always be your one
But you’re flying by so fast that we’re never gonna last
The time you’ll leave for me, there’ll be none.
You’re a comet
Streaking across the sky
Like a flash in the pan
You do everything you can to my heart
To make me cry
Wish and hope and pray that I’ll get over you
It always seems to be that way ‘til the next time that you’re through
So I tell myself that you might stay
‘Cos it’s all that I can do
But we both know that ain’t true
You’re a comet
Streaking across the sky
Leaving me in your wake
Making my heart ache
Every time you say goodbye
You know there comes a time when you won’t be coming back
You’ll take your final spin around your little track
And fling yourself to outer space so black
Unless you slam into the ground, killing everyone around
When you hit the sun with a smack
You’re a comet
Streaking across the sky
But you’re gonna burn out
And you know I’m gonna shout
When it’s time for you to die

The Space Between Us
04:26
|
|||
Galaxies collide and their worlds are torn apart
Asteroids slam into stars, they’re doomed right from the start
When you and I collide, you know it’s bound to break my heart
When there’s no space between us
When atoms smash together, the quarks fly in a haze
When a spark ignites a firework, they set the sky ablaze
When you and I explode, my mind goes spinning in a daze
When there’s no space between us
Black holes suck in matter and it’s trapped for evermore
Particles floating round the Sun get burned up in its core
When you and I ignite, it leaves me crying on the floor
When there’s no space between us
Suns explode as Novas we just knew they couldn’t last
Volcanoes spew their magma, we’ve all seen that fiery blast
When you and I flare up, it feels like love has finally passed
When there’s no space between us
But when planets circle stars, they spin at their command
They feel the warmth they see the light, there’s light upon the land
When I reach out to you, if you would only take my hand
When there’s space between us
Photons launch from stars and eventually decay
Rockets launch out into space and then they fly away
And when I lose your touch, I feel like you might go astray
When there’s space between us
We can see through space and time itself we only have to zoom
We’ll expand across the cosmos ‘til we meet our final doom
But when you’re far away from me all I can see is gloom
When there’s space between us
And sometimes how I wish that you would take me in your arms
I feel your heart, I taste your breath, I’m captured by your charms
I like to think you like to think you shelter me from harm
When there’s no space between us
A light year or a micron it is still too far away
An eon or a second seems forever and a day
But I’ll still long to hold you when we’ve turned to dust and clay
With no space between us

No Country For Spacemen
05:53
|
|||
Spacemen gonna rock and spacemen gonna roll
They’re jumping to the funk and they’re grooving to the soul
They’re dancing to the hip hop, can you feel a disco beat?
And you know they like that jazz when they’re down on Bourbon Street
We got Rocketman and Major Tom, and Space Trucking is hip
And Starman got aboard that supersonic rocket ship
So I need someone to start explaining to me then
Why there ain’t no country for spacemen.
We got our ranches and our rodeos
Our Stetsons and our boots
Our stockyards where we drive our herds
From pastures into chutes
Since we were born to ride it’s time to leave that cattle pen
And bring some country to Spacemen
Now Houston’s got them their Mission Control
And if country’s heart is Abilene, then Houston is its soul
And Huntsville, Alabama has a place for rockets too
That’s the same great state that gave us Hank and Emmylou
Now I’m not normally one that goes off running at the mouth
But it seems to me that NASA likes to do its thing down south
So I’ve asked you once before, and I’m askin’ it again
Why there ain’t no country for spacemen
We got our ranches and our rodeos
Our Stetsons and our boots
Our stockyards where we drive our herds
From pastures into chutes
Since we were born to ride it’s time to leave that cattle pen
And bring some country to Spacemen
Now they take ‘em to the launchpad in a big ol’ pickup truck
‘fore they blast out into space, they’re kissin’ Mama for good luck
You know they’ll do their duty in the sunshine and the rain
Last time I saw the shuttle, they were movin’ it by train
If you fly to space, or mend a fence, you still need you a plan
Now they took over a mountain, why they calling it Cheyenne?
SO can’t you tell me something while you’re counting down from 10
Why there ain’t no country for Spacemen
We got our ranches and our rodeos
Our Stetsons and our boots
Our stockyards where we drive our herds
From pastures into chutes
Since we were born to ride it’s time to leave that cattle pen
And bring some country to Spacemen
Now I don’t wanna hear you say that space ain’t honky tonk
When flyin’ on a rocket’s just like bustin on a bronc
And bouncing ‘cross the moon seems like ridin’ on the range
And callin’ them Space Cowboys, ain’t that just a little strange
Now you really can’t be country, ‘less you’ve slept under the stars
Captain Kirk, he ain’t the only one who’s getting drunk in bars
SO something bad’s been happening, I need to know since when
There ain’t no country for spacemen
We got our ranches and our rodeos
Our Stetsons and our boots
Our stockyards where we drive our herds
From pastures into chutes
Since we were born to ride it’s time to leave that cattle pen
And bring some country to Spacemen
I know space can be country, we can wear that badge with pride
Since a mustang in a song once told us “ride, Sally ride”
And I like to think that Christa was a little country too
Like the rest of those who perished wearing red, white, and blue
We’re gonna need some wranglers when we reach another world
To lassoed charging Martian bulls before our flag’s unfurled
It’s a lie that I’ve been hearing, and lying is a sin
That there ain’t no country for spacemen
We got our spaceships and our rockets
Our spacesuits and our boots
Our launchpads where we load ourselves
On capsules through those chutes
We’re all ready to ride, now, since we left that cattle pen
And we’re bringing country to spacemen
Yeah we’re bringing country to spacemen
Yeah we brought that country to spacemen

Walkin' On The Moon
07:29
|
|||
I am sing singing a song for the thing we love to do
I can take my love to town, I can dance that old soft shoe
We'll sail on wooden ships and we'll come and sail away
We'll take the long way home where the magic dragons play
We'll see fire on the mountain if I can't find my way home
If we're running on empty and they take my Kodachrome
We'll listen to the music if it's not done too soon
When I'm walking on the dark side of the Moon.
I am fixing up a hole where the rain is getting in
I'm walking on the water and it might be a sin
I'm under an umbrella when I'm sitting on the dock
I'm smoking in the boy's room when we rock around the clock
I am buying me a stairway and I'm climbing it to Heaven
I need a hero with a jukebox when we play B10 plus Seven
I'll meet you in the evening in the merry month of June
When I'm walking in the shadows of the Moon.
I am out on Thunder Island, I can't drive down Thunder Road
I can feel the eyes upon me as I'm loosening my load
It's the same old song and dance when we had seasons in the Sun
And I'm never going back, 'cos girlfriend we were born to run
I really don't know clouds when I chase them from the sky
I can drive down in my Chevy to the levy when it's dry
The cat is in the cradle and it's with a silver spoon
When I'm walking on the mountains of the Moon
I can't get no satisfaction when I paint my shelter black
My heart of glass might shatter when the chain brings me back
I'll cry with or without you, it is more than just a feeling
I'll be riding on my seesaw when I'm dancing on the ceiling
Will you take a chance on me, I think I'll take that bet
I'm the best thing that you ever had and you ain't seen nothing yet
I'll be your diamond girl, you'll be my Rocky Raccoon
When I'm walking on the craters of the Moon.
I'll sing your song in Boston when my Sun is going down
Let my heart on, don't break it, or cry tears of a clown
I can catch you a grenade, I can cry on my guitar
I can think out loud you're perfect, I'll play piano at John's bar
We will rock you on or bit the dust as crowds call out for more
I can run so far or skate away or look out my back door
My rubber band man plays but he's always out of tune
When I'm kicking up the dust upon the Moon.
Unless you treat me like a lady, I won't come like mama told me
I'll sit cross-legged out of doors so my radio can roll me
It will take you more than words to put a ring on single ladies
But I'll hear my train-a-coming if you buy me a Mercedes
I won't get fooled again if I hear the same old song
I'll take the midnight train to Georgia if the right one comes along
I'll escape with you at midnight to make love up on the dune
When we're lying in the soft light of the Moon.
My love is hurts, it stinks, it bites, but we won't have no child
You can shake me up or turn me loose or you can drive me wild
I am very superstitious when I'm tearing down the wall
I'll never lose my faith in you, Jim, since we almost had it all
I can ask you to come dancing, we can rock n roll all night
If you still love me tomorrow, we'll make afternoon delight
We can always float away on that ninety ninth balloon
And we'll rise up 'til we're shooting for the Moon.
I can't stop until the end of time if you can't feel the pain
Kickstart my heart with open arms and come right as you are
So, wake me up, it's my life, no surprise, my lucky star
We can dance head over feet with our toes across the floor
Since we belong together, we'll cry more and more and more
If you're gone, you're unforgiven, and you'll make our hero swoon
When I'm walking on the bright side of the Moon.
Now that everybody's talking
Can you hear me knock knock knocking?
Can you hear my fingers popping?
When I'm leapin' and a hoppin'?
When I'm walking like I'm walking on the Moon.

My Superstar
03:11
|
|||
Gazing at the stars
I wonder which one's ours.
Oh wait, she doesn't come out at night
A thousand points of light
Burning, oh so bright
Or is it the light of a thousand distant cars?
Staring at the stars
I think that might Mars
Another frozen rock hurtling through space
We're stuck here in this place
In this losing race
Like wings of lace, of fireflies caught in jars
Wishing on the stars
It beats hanging out in bars
Just searching for the one to call my own
The one I've never known
Like the seeds I've never sown
That leave my heart alone with all its scars
Catching all the stars
Which one's are the quasars?
The mysteries of the skies are yet untold
The night air can be cold
As our empty lives unfold
And leave me longing just to hold your avatar
Swinging from the stars
Like diamonds stuck in tars
So beautiful and oh so very rare
I wonder who's out there
Anybody, anywhere
And do they care that we live among their stars?
Lying under the stars
To the sound of lone guitars
Like endless waves crashing on the shore
T the one that I adore
To the one that I implore
To bring me more than what was never ours
Dreaming of the stars
As I ponder my memoirs
Full of truth and a twinkling of lies
I've had my lows and I've had highs
Lots of laughs that made me cry
Gazing at the stars in your eyes.
